Jim Bishop, 47, was named Vice President and General Manager of the Rome Braves in October 2017. The 2018 season marks his 26th season with the Braves organization, having served the past 25 years with the Double-A Braves.
Bishop spent his first 12 years (1992-2004) with the Greenville Braves in Greenville, SC, before the Double-A Braves relocated. In 2005, the club moved to Pearl, MS, where Bishop spent the past 13 years (2005-17) with the Mississippi Braves before moving to Rome in October.
Bishop’s tenure began in 1992 as a trainee. He was promoted to Food and Beverage Manager in 1993 and then became Ticket Manager for the club in 1994. After serving as Ticket Manager for two seasons, Bishop was named Assistant General Manager in the fall of 1996.
A 1992 graduate of the University of South Carolina, Bishop holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Administration. He also worked for the USC Athletic Department during his college years, serving as student equipment manager with the Gamecock football team. During his tenure, Bishop worked under head coaches Joe Morrison and Sparky Woods, with the highlight of his college years being the Gamecocks facing Indiana in the 1988 Liberty Bowl.
Jim, his wife Krista and their two sons, Jack (20) and Davis (18), reside in Rome. When not at the ballpark, “Bish”, as he is known to friends around the park, enjoys spending time with his family, an occasional round of golf and cheering on the Braves and Gamecocks.
