New Hands Free Law

PFC Chase Burnes

Rome Police Dept.

Starting July 1, Georgia drivers can no longer hold phones while they drive.  Hear all about this new law at Friday’s meeting.  Our speaker will PFC Chase Burnes of the Rome Police Dept.
Chase was born and raised in Rome GA. He  was hired by the Rome Police Dept in December 2004, and assigned to patrol in January 2005 (when he had reached 21 years of age). Chase worked in the Patrol Division on various shifts. In 2010 he transferred to the Floyd County Police Department where he was a Sergeant in the Patrol Division. In 2016 He returned to Rome PD and in  February of this year was assigned to the Selective Enforcement Unit as a motor officer.  PFC Chase Burnes was Officer of the Year for 2017 for his arrest of the suspect firing shots at the air show
From the above job description, sounds like Chase will be the one on the road enforcing this new law  – so listen carefully.
