We are looking forward to our annual Speech Contest this Friday and greatly appreciate the students who have stepped forward to participate and the schools they represent. Our contestants will represent Rome High, Armuchee High and Pepperell High. The speeches will be from 5 to 8 minutes long. Two minutes additional time will be allowed each contestant to substantiate the presentation by answering a question from one of the judges.
The speech subject is chosen by each contestant but must carry a positive theme of patriotism related to the American way of life or encourage continuance of the American form of government. The speech should inspire interest, and it’s effectiveness, as well as patriotic theme, will be considered by the judges.
The winner in our contest will represent the Rome Exchange Club in the Georgia District Contest (state wide at our annual convention) which is sponsored by and under the auspices of the Georgia District Exchange Clubs.
Our judges will be:
* Dr. JoAnn Moss, Principal of Elm Street School
* Tina Bartleson, Director of the Family Resource Center
* Teresa Patterson, Instructor at Georgia Northwestern Technical College.
Our prompter will be Exchangite Gail Johnson and our timekeeper will be Exchangite Hal Gosnell.
