The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

**This schedule replaces any previously published schedules due to either postponements or cancellations due the Covid -19 situation. Most of the ones that had to cancel or reschedule are rescheduling for next year. Any changes to this schedule will be posted in the Exchange Club newsletter, on our website under Tomb News and Activities, and announced at our Zoom meetings.

Sept. 22, 2020 – Tomb to be set up in the exhibit area of the Community Building for presentation to DAR Board of Directors from Acworth to preview a scheduled field trip to see the Tomb and tour points of interest in Rome and Floyd County and to eat dinner at Sweet Ps at the Palladium on April 27, 2021. Set up will be at 9 a.m. and I will need 2 – 3 people to assist.

Nov. 4 – 7, 2020 – Tomb replica to Manchester, Ga. at Manchester H.S. for pre -Veteran’s Day activities. Set up will be on 4 November following arrival in Manchester. Replica will be on display beginning at 8:30 a.m. on the 5th through the 7th . There will be a parade on Sat. the 7th and our trailer will be in the parade. Immediately following the parade there will be dinner on the furnished by the host. Following that we will pack up and come home.

Nov. 9, 2020 – Tomb replica at Rome/Floyd County retired teachers’ luncheon at the Thornton Center in Armuchee. We will set up the display that morning at 9 a.m. and I will need at least two volunteers. We will load and leave immediately following the luncheon. Lunch is provided. I will need 2 -3 to assist with this project.

Nov. 15 – 19, 2020 – Gatesville, Tex. Field of Honor sponsored by their Exchange Club. I will need 2 -3 to assist with this project.

Dec. 19, 2020 – Tomb Replica to Wattsville, Ala. At the St. Claire Memorial Cemetery for their Wreaths Across America wreath laying on veteran’s graves from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. CST. We will leave at 8 a.m. our time from the Fairgrounds and return about 6 p.m. our time. I will need at least 2 volunteers.

**If your Club or organization is considering hosting this powerful and moving exhibit to your area in 2020 and/or 2021, now is the time to contact us and we will tell you if the date you desire is available and then send you the necessary information and forms to secure this exhibit for your event.
I suggest having both a primary and secondary date, as we are already beginning to get inquiries for both 2020 and 2021 since the 100th anniversary of The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is Nov. 11, 2021.
