Star Students/Teacher Program

Each year the Exchange Club hosts the Star student and teachers Awards Program in partnership with the Rome/Floyd County Chamber of Commerce. Since its creation by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce in 1958, the STAR program has honored nearly 27,000 students and the teachers they have selected as the most influential to their academic achievement. In the mid-1990s, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Department of Education invited the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation to assume oversight and administration of the statewide program. Today, the PAGE Foundation, along with the PAGE Board of Directors and Board of Trustees, is proud to continue honoring Georgia’s future leaders and the educators who have helped shape them.

The STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) Student honor is awarded to the high school senior from each Georgia public and private high school who earns the highest score on a single SAT date and ranks in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their graduating class based on grade point average. Each STAR Student then selects a teacher who has had a significant impact on their academic journey to be recognized as that school’s STAR Teacher. The educator the students chooses may be any Pre-K through 12 classroom teacher in good standing in an accredited Georgia school system or private school.
